Eugene was the first person I hired when I moved from Shanghai to London in 2000. Eugene is a graduate of La Sorbonne and very well spoken ? but had zero sales experience. I hired him because I liked him immediately.
When I launched naseba, Eugene, or ?G?, was in Barcelona, a sales manager of a team of 8 ? making 1,500 British pound basic plus commission and override.
I remember sitting in ?the cave? and Fabien telling me at the same time handing me the phone ??G wants to speak to you?? Eugene then asked me ?did you start a company??? I replied, almost embarrassed ? ?yes.? He then said something that I will never forget ? ?see you on Monday? and hung up.
I chuckled with Fabien ? because very few people would quit a job where they were making a big, cushy basic and leading/managing a team of 8 ? so on Monday, I must admit that I was very curious ? but kept saying to myself ? ?no way!?
Monday at 8:45 I get a call ? ?big man ? sorry, I did not make it.? Although disappointed, I of course did not show him any sign of this ? and said ?no problem ? keep making it happen in Barcelona.?
2 minutes later, Fabien tells me he needs to see me ?up stairs? (street level) and as I walk up, there is G ready to go to work. Incredible ? the guy quit a job making a good basic plus he was a manager ? and he joined us for just 500 euros a month ?
Over the past 4+ years, G has proven to be one of the most consistent sales men in the company. I consider G to be like a brother?
I would like to add: I have never seen anyone better at picking up beautiful women than G.
