When we launched our new corporate website, I changed the wording on the site from ?the team? to ?the army?
Sophie came into my office and said to me, ?don?t you think it?s a little aggressive?..?? I looked at her and said, ?yes.?
I am not looking for a warm, cozy, loving team ? I am looking for a loyal, hard working, focused, dynamic group of people who understand that ?success is a choice?,? at naseba, we have and are continually building? an Army.
At naseba, all employees must wear business attire - suits and ties for men, and sharp dress for women. All male employees must shave on a daily basis ? our Army does not allow people to be sloppy and disheveled.
Do not misunderstand me ? the naseba dress code is NOT about that American slogan ?act as if?? I do not want anyone on the team to pretend to be someone they are not. Our strict dress code is about being sharp, dynamic ? and focused.
If someone is going to be sloppy in their personal appearance ? for sure they will be sloppy in business ?
I know it might sound contrite, however, I tell the team to recruit people that you would want to stand next to you in a ?fist fight.? It might be a bit extreme description ? but seriously, as the leader of a 300+ multinational employees, I need to believe that the people standing next to me are not going to turn around and run away when the first sign of difficulty / fight comes our way.
People must deserve to work for naseba ? we give incredible opportunities to travel, make a lot of money, learn what it really means to be a ?manager,? or ?sales director?? we do not care about a persons age, race or religion ? we care about their character.
One of the top sales people in the company, LP is 22 years old, but there is no way someone even notices his age - he is perfectly focused on being the best.
On the finance team in the Monaco office, we have a chief accountant that gets to the office every day by 6:30am ? he sends the CFO and I a daily ?receivables? report on the bank account every morning. Many times I get this mail at 6:15 am or so .. and he is always in the office until around 7pm ? normally one of the last people to leave ? amazing how much this guy wants to be great ? and I am proud that naseba is giving him the motivation to work this hard.
Our Bangalore office is the ultimate army ? Saleem, the General Manager of Bangalore has developed, possibly the best office I have ever seen ? super organized; very sharp; efficient and an absolute deal machine. Each time I go to the Bangalore office, I come away inspired.
(I will talk more about the great Bangalore team in a different section)
I am very proud of the naseba army.
