I was once a whinning, moaning, never happy, complaining bitch …. who spoke negatively about lots of things/as well as people around me …. not to mention, whatever problems I faced, it was never my fault.
“there is no way we can do this…its too hard…” “this job sucks…” “my boss is asshole..” “I should be paid more…” “The company doesnt know where it is going…” “there are many more opportunities out there…” “it’s too hard…” “I hate…”
In the past, I definately allowed negativity—negative thinking to get in the way of my focus…
I think it all clicked for me about 6 years ago …. I woke up one day and realized that life would pass me by if i did not get more focused — I realized that I had to make serious changes in my person.
I reflected on all my mistakes - my achievements - my failures - and without question, my life-story had been a series of nearly being great, almost “winning….” but not.
The major reason for my “near success, but not” was that I allowed negativity to get in the way of where I wanted to go.
Our world today celebrates the failures of man… just look at the major headlines in the news, even the sports news and you will see a focus on negatives — stories on failures instead of greatness and achievements.
Seriously, today… reflect on how many times you think or say something negative… examples are all around us: “I am tired…” “I feel like shit…” “this meal sucks…” “my job is hard…” “the car is front of me is an idiot…” “I have a terrible head cold….” “It’s too hot…” etc…
For some, it might be a challenge not to say anything negative about anything or anyone — but it makes such a difference in our state of mind by staying positive.
My challenge to you the reader (as well as myself) instead of sitting around with your friends focusing and moaning about how bad things are … or next time someone asks you how you are doing and you reply: “I am dead tired…” focus on becoming consistently positive.
Nothing positive is gained by telling your girlfriend or boyfriend “I am dead tired….or I feel like hell today…”
But it is worth thinking about … how many great people could be even better if they did not allow negativity to block their focus.
