“Disloyalty” and “people searching for something better,” (greener grass) are two seperate things.
As far as green grass is concerned ?. I am no one to talk about “greener grass” ? I worked for someone else and ended up starting my own company that competes directly against my previous employer…
Although, I do not consider my move in starting naseba as being “disloyal” to my previous employer … because I never thought about starting my own company before I was pushed out- however, life works in mysterious ways — my greener grass has made me much more money than I could have ever earned had I stayed, but much more importantly than money, reflection has helped me grow, learn and mature as person.
I do not have a problem with people that have worked for naseba who, having found either the job itself or the coprorate culture too demanding, decided to search for their own ‘greener grass’
We once had a sales executive in Dubai named Abu who quit and now works for a competitor and I think he is a great, talented guy and I wish him the best.
Another great example is Callumn - a great australian guy that worked his ass off, but naseba just did not click for him - he quit and now works for a company that organizes events/conferences. I have zero hard feelings.
My friend, Hadi Malaeb quit naseba to start his own conference company?BUT he did not steal from naseba nor did he copy our events. He just did not see a future leadership role suitable for him so he left. Hadi and I are still good friends and I will be having dinner with him soon. I have no hard feelings.
Chris White was hugely important to naseba our first few years and then he moved on ?now he worls for a large expo company in the UK ?I have a lot of respect for Chris and I am forever grateful for all that he did for naseba.
Ian Tracy … a brilliant sales talent who single handly recruited some of our top sales staff in the company. He transfered to Shanghai - but recently, quit because he disagreed with his targets and package in China …. even if one day he ends up at a competitor, I have no hard feelings.
Even Skinny … a guy who worked for naseba in a few offices, but the job just did not work out for him.
Even if he works for another conference company in Dubai - he is a good guy who has proven to be honorable and some what loyal to naseba.
If someone joins a company, works hard and does everything possible to make it happen, but realizes that the job is not for them, thus quits … this person can not be considered disloyal and “The grass is greener on the otherside…” is not the appropriate expression in my opinion.
However…………disloyalty is a different thing altogether.
Two years ago, we had an employee in our Dubai office whom naseba and esp. Fabien Faure had a massive, life changing positive impact on his life? he got head hunted by a competitor and over the past 2 years this person has aggressively, maliciously tried to hurt naseba by spreading lies, and head hunting our staff, and speaking poorly about Fabien, Nic and I.
Fabien and John Galt excitedly suggested that I compare the past two years career of this person (as well as a couple others) and what he/they have achieved since he left naseba compared to the career and achievements of Saleem, Jassim, Rami, LP and all the others that these people tried to headhunt —- they want me to do the comparison, NOT because this person quit (and/or several people he head hunted), but because these people quit and then moan and complain, speak very poorly about the company and team?..the very team that helped them achieve what they have today….
I wont waste the readers time with too many details … but a few months ago, an old friend asked to meet me for coffee to see about the possiblty of coming back to naseba — and when we met, I explained to him that he had betrayed me too much, stabbed me and the company in the back too many times for me to ever “trust” him again … but he passionately told me that he would prove his loyalty to me and to naseba.
2 weeks later he tried to head hunt my number one sales guy. Honorable.
Wasting the readers time with beautiful comparisons between Saleem, LP, Jassim, Fabien, Nic, etc … with people who betrayed me/ left us and talk shit about us … accomplishes nothing and nothing positive is gainned by any such comparisons.
A few of our most loyal readers of this blog (I have been told) are some of the most venmously negative towards naseba and our corporate culture.
I strongly suggest ….that naseba must have had some form impact on these people for them to be such loyal readers.
If you are going to waste your time to read my blog — gain something positive from it.
Quiting and moving on for a better salary…better opportunity…better career is completely understandable …. however, once you are sat on the otherside in the greener grass … you can not look back, so at least sit honorably.
?. this blog is about making your life happen honorably. Living up to your potential honorably. Climbing higher honorably.
With the main focus of standing ontop, on greener grass honorably.
naseba is not for everyone.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the kind sentiments and I’m pleased you made the distinction between those who simply “move on” for either personal or professional reasons and those who behave like the guy mentioned above.
I’m grateful for my time at naseba - it was my first proper job and I learned a lot - so this blog acts as a kind of window into a few years back in my life. (FYI another UK-based ex-colleague who made it happen for you in the early days is also a loyal reader.)
My regards to Fab, Nic, Sophie, David Wright, Joe M, Terry and Spoons (RIP).

my first comment is not a comment at all… just sharing the thought that i have once learned and live by many years ago, ” an ounce of loyalty is worth a pound of cleverness”… simple as that… imagine if one sets out 10 ounces of loyalty what do you get in return — 10 pounds ROI…
i firmly believe loyalty is by choice not by chance…
i have been with naseba for over 9 mts now… very exclusive… very demanding environment — but why am i here, still?
because its not a greener-grass? because it is a greener grass? to me i dont care.. im here because i owe it to shavina, fab, rami, sid, jassim and scott…in 9 mts time i have been anything that i would have expected to be — SELLING at a very high level and such an exclusive environment..
i may not be the best in sales but i view my goal in naseba as a mountain on which peak i would not reach… it’s a never ending urge to get better and better and better each day - period.
if at anytime in my stay at naseba i will sell 25k / 50k in a week, it does not end there… i just raised my own bar..
finally,
yes, tariq, my mate, stick to the pitch is the key which at times i honestly find myself straying… it’s there for a reason… i am not bigger - no one is bigger than the pitch…
so just f…..g sell and get on with
