don’t just sit around and talk about what you are gonna do – achieve your goals in 2012

9 months ago, when I decided to do naseba7 and started to train to be able to complete 7 ironman in 7 days,  I also decided to set a challenge to everyone who works at naseba.

Which I called the Rolex Explorer challenge.

The idea was to get everyone in the company to go after a personal goal or challenge that did not have to do with work and the most impressive achievement would win a Rolex Explorer.

We set up 90 minute lunch breaks for those employees who wanted to go to the gym.

Many employees started training and going after their own personal goals.

Just a few examples-

My personal assistant lost 15 kilo (35 lbs) and is training to run his first marathon.

A sales leader in the Dubai office started to go to the gym, lost several kilo’s and is learning how to sail.

The GM of the office and the sales director’s Rolex challenge was unique and impressive.

They went to Kathmandu to visit an orphanage and took the orphanage cloths, food and money.
They spent two days with the children doing a “make it happen” camp.
Their goal was to give hope to children who don’t have much hope in their lives.

Fabien’s personal challenge was to mountain bike through Vietnam … so he spent 13 days over the holiday riding a mountain bike through Vietnam.

Imagine riding a mountain bike across Vietnam …. Such a cool adventure.

Adam Fletcher – the GM of our Kuala Lumpur office did something which I especially find remarkable … he inspired his entire office to train and get in shape to be able to climb the highest mountain in south east Asia, Kinabalau.

Over a few months, the team trained together and ultimately flew together (each paid their own airfare) to Borneo.
8 people summited with him.  Very impressive.

Tharun, a sales executive in Bangalore focused on getting the perfect 6 pack and get his body fat down to 4% … he kept a blog on his challenge, and ultimately achieved his perfect 6 pack and got his body weight down to the % he wanted.

Another Bangalore team member started to run for the first time in her life.
In April, shortly after I announced the Rolex challenge, Kavana ran her first 10km … then she signed up for a marathon and ran her first marathon…

A month later she ran a 50km trail race … then another month later she ran the mid night marathon.
Kavana has worked for naseba for 7 years and was the second employee hired in Bangalore so I know her well.
It’s very impressive what she accomplished because she was not a sports person before.

… but she started to run and got into doing trail runs, ultra-marathons, and even a mid-night marathon…
She focused on training, lost weight, got in shape and really made it happen.  Impressive.

Tomorrow – I will announce the winner of my Rolex Explorer Challenge.

But as you go through your day today … think about setting your own personal challenge this year.

Then stay consistent – go after and achieve your goal.
