“Disloyalty” and “people searching for something better,” (greener grass) are two seperate things.
As far as green grass is concerned ?. I am no one to talk about “greener grass” ? I worked for someone else and ended up starting my own company that competes directly against my previous employer…
Although, I do not consider [...]

A theme that is very important to me; a theme that I hammer at least once a month since I launched this blog:
“no matter how good you might be at your job, no matter what that job may be, do not fall into the trap of thinking you are more important than you really are.”
In [...]

ode to reflection…

≡ Category: Ode To |1 Comment

I was once a whinning, moaning, never happy, complaining bitch …. who spoke negatively about lots of things/as well as people around me ….
… not to mention, whatever problems I faced, it was never my fault.
“there is no way we can do this…its too hard…” “this job sucks…” “my boss is an asshole..” [...]

Two nights ago in Dubai, I took two of the key people in the company, LP and Jassim out for a cigar to celebrate both their recent success of hitting their top targets.
As we we were enjoying a cigar, LP asked me “what is the most impressive management story you have witnessed…?”
Instantly, I replied:

Everyone knows at least one person (maybe even the reader) whom is exceptionally talented, but is not the best at whatever he/she is doing…they really want to be successful, but they are not even close to being as great as they could be because ….being consistent, loyal and focused …through the good times as well [...]

I [...]

Earlier in this blog, maybe 6 weeks ago or so, I discussed a few people in the Cape Town office that were proving to be dynamic and seizing the opportunities that naseba was providing them.
I was so impressed with two of these young ladies that I sent [...]

Sophie reminded me of a very sad story that I have …. a story that she said would be interesting for the blog, and maybe touch some of the readers.
When I was in university, I fell 4 stories rock climbing … I broke my arm, my hand, my leg, my tail bone and had multi-skull [...]

…. each morning my marketing team sends me the blog readership report for the day before and I see a small city in Florida has visited the site again - which makes me very proud….it is my father.
My father…”big slick Joe,” as an old friend used to call him, is a brilliant salesman and a [...]

ode to Balu

≡ Category: Ode To |Leave a Comment

One of my all time favorite employees is one of the office managers in Dubai - Balu.
Balu has worked for me for more than 3 years. He is all positivity. I might be having a bad day, but as soon as I see Balu and his positive, hard work ethic — he makes [...]
